Are you starting a garden this year? I am!!
When we bought our home September 2008, the backyard was covered in leaves and waste about 3 feet deep. You will not believe the things we found buried under it all (bottles, shoes, underwear, raccoon remains,….). It has taken months of hardwork, almost entirely by Paul to bring the eye sore that was our backyard to a blank canvas.
Our home is in the northeast region ( Washington DC metro) and we are lucky to experience all four seasons! In fact our neighborhood -is gorgeous right now with the Cherry Blossoms and soon the Azaleas blooms which Takoma Park is famous for. My inspiration for our front and back yard gardens include, local shrubs and hedges, overgrown stone patio and pathways, perennial landscape mixed with seasonal annuals seating and entertaining nook.We have a general outline of what we want where and have started to plant some of the perennials and annuals.
For ground covers, here are my options. Among these, so far we have some Phlox and creepers.

I luv hens and chicks and often overlook this as a ground cover choice. I like to use this little tiny mint ground cover that is so small but when you step on it smells really good:)
